Established in 1970, Cliff Wright Motors has successfully operated in Armidale for nearly half a Century.
On founding the business, Cliff Wright quickly identified his own market niche, and built a one stop automotive shop for the local and surrounding areas.
In the 70s, it was the norm for customers to have to take their vehicle to multiple different garages to get work completed, depending on the fault in hand.
Envisioning something different for Cliff Wright Motors, Cliff quickly identified that consumers would benefit significantly from an automotive garage able to fix, develop and sell used cars from one location, which in turn made him very popular with the local community.
An innovative idea is, of course, nothing without the skill and service go with it, as such Cliff worked hard and quickly established a reputation for being a reliable local business owner, and fundamental part of the Armidale community.
Cliff Wright Motors quickly developed into an extremely successful family-run business, thanks to the dedication of Cliff’s four sons: Gary, Phil, Craig and Chris, who joined the firm after leaving school, and have been instrumental in its expansion.
This included the implementation of specialised departments – from the introduction of battery services, and the sale of quality used cars, to the expansion of its already popular wrecking yard, mechanical and electrical services.
In 2010 and 2011, Chris and Craig left the family business in pursuit of other ambitions, leaving the ongoing running and development of the firm to Gary and Phil.
Gary and Phil remain dedicated to carrying out Cliff's dream, and have worked hard to further expand Cliff Wright Motors, introducing scrap metal, radiator and other automotive service innovations.
